ATI TEAS Registration and Test Day Guide

Check your school’s TEAS policy before paying for an exam. The program may require a particular testing method, location, score-report route, or deadline. Once you know those requirements, create or verify your ATI account, choose the correct exam type, confirm the time zone, and make sure your identification matches your registration.

Last reviewed: July 13, 2026

Before registering, check your school’s requirements

Don’t begin with the ATI checkout page. Begin with the nursing or allied health program receiving your score.

Schools don’t all use the ATI TEAS in the same way. One may accept a remote exam taken at home. Another may require you to test on its campus or at a designated testing center. ATI warns that some schools will not accept transcripts from remote exams or from exams taken at another location. Registering for the wrong format can still count as an attempt, and a refund may not be available.

Confirm these details:

  • Which TEAS version the program accepts
  • Whether you must test through the school, ATI, or PSI
  • Whether remote results are accepted
  • The application and score-submission deadlines
  • The minimum total score
  • Any minimum section scores
  • How many attempts the school permits
  • The required wait between attempts
  • How long TEAS scores remain valid
  • Whether the school wants the latest, highest, or first qualifying score

Save the policy page or email response. Admission pages change, and a written record is useful when instructions conflict.

Where can you take the ATI TEAS?

ATI currently lists four main registration routes:

Testing routeWhere you testWho proctors itHow results are handled
TEAS at ATIRemotely at homeATIYou send the result to the school; one transcript is included
TEAS Online at InstitutionRemotely at homeYour school or testing centerResult is sent automatically to that institution
TEAS at InstitutionOn campus or at an institutional testing centerThe institutionResult is sent automatically to that institution
TEAS at PSIPSI testing center or an available remote PSI optionPSIYou send the result; one transcript is included

ATI’s registration guidance says the available route may depend on the school’s instructions. PSI availability can also depend on the dates, locations, and delivery options shown during scheduling.

TEAS Online, proctored by ATI

This option is taken remotely from home with an ATI proctor.

You register and pay through ATI, then select an exam date and time. ATI notes that TEAS at ATI appointment times are scheduled in Central Time, so check the time-zone conversion before paying. You are responsible for sending the result to the school, and one transcript is included in the registration fee.

Choose this route only after confirming that your program accepts an at-home ATI-proctored result.

TEAS Online, proctored by an institution

You take the exam remotely, but your school or its testing center provides the proctor.

Registration usually requires selecting the institution, date, and time through ATI. The included transcript is sent automatically to that school. Technical and test-day instructions may come from both ATI and the institution.

Contact the institution if you don’t receive the assessment information it promised.

TEAS in person at an institution

This exam is held at a school or institutional testing center.

The institution may deliver the exam on a computer or in a paper-and-pencil format. Your included transcript is sent to the institution where you tested. Additional transcript credits are needed if you want to send the result elsewhere.

This route often makes sense when the program specifically requires an on-campus attempt.

TEAS through PSI

For a PSI exam, you first purchase the assessment through ATI and then schedule the appointment with PSI. ATI advises students to check available locations and dates before purchasing.

Your school may tell you to use PSI. Don’t choose it simply because a nearby appointment is available.

How to register for the ATI TEAS

The exact screens vary by exam type, but the decision process should stay the same.

Step 1: Confirm the school’s testing policy

Find out which exam type, location, and transcript source the school accepts.

Do this for every program you may apply to. A testing route accepted by one school may not be accepted by another.

Step 2: Create or verify your ATI account

You need an ATI account to register, take the exam, access results, and send official transcripts.

Use an email address you check regularly. Save the username and password somewhere secure, because you may need them at the testing center or during remote check-in. ATI says students taking an online in-person exam may be unable to test if they don’t know their ATI login details.

Step 3: Check the name on your account

The first and last name on your ATI registration must match the first and last name on your approved physical photo ID.

A digital image, phone photo, photocopy, or printout of the ID is not accepted. School IDs and work IDs are also excluded from ATI’s approved list.

Resolve a name mismatch before registering. Don’t wait until exam morning.

Step 4: Choose the correct exam type

Select the format required by the school:

  • ATI remote proctor
  • Institution remote proctor
  • In-person institution
  • PSI

Read the full label before paying. Similar names can refer to different transcript routes and proctors.

Step 5: Select the date, time, and location

Check:

  • Time zone
  • Travel time
  • School deadline
  • Score-processing time
  • Accommodation approval
  • Work or class conflicts
  • Whether you have enough preparation time

For TEAS at ATI, appointment times are displayed in Central Time. Convert the time carefully and compare it with the confirmation email.

Step 6: Review the rescheduling and cancellation rules

ATI’s current policy allows eligible ATI registrations to be rescheduled for a $15 fee when the change is completed at least 48 hours before the exam. The new date must be within 30 days of the original date, at the same location, and subject to availability. PSI also requires action at least 48 hours before the appointment. Institution rules may differ.

Read the policy attached to your exact registration. Don’t assume every exam can be changed in the same way.

Step 7: Confirm where the included transcript will go

For an exam at an institution, the included transcript is normally sent automatically to the institution where you tested.

For TEAS at ATI or PSI, you are responsible for choosing where to send the included transcript. Sending results to additional schools generally requires purchasing additional transcript credits.

Step 8: Save the confirmation information

Keep a copy of:

  • Exam date
  • Start time and time zone
  • Test location or remote format
  • Institution name
  • Confirmation number
  • Assessment or product ID
  • Contact details for the proctor or testing center
  • Rescheduling deadline
  • Receipt

For an institution-proctored remote exam, the school may send the Assessment ID shortly before the exam. ATI says this is often sent around 48 hours beforehand.

How much does the ATI TEAS cost?

As of July 13, 2026, ATI lists TEAS at ATI and TEAS at PSI exams at $120.

Exams offered through schools and testing centers can cost a different amount. The final price may include local proctoring, room, scheduling, or remote-security fees. ATI says most exams average about $120, but the amount shown during registration is the amount that applies to your appointment.

Other possible costs include:

  • Rescheduling fee
  • Additional transcript credits
  • Travel or parking
  • Testing-center fees
  • Accommodation-related documentation expenses, where applicable

Check the full order before submitting payment.

What identification do you need?

You must present an original, physical, non-expired government-issued photo ID for both remote and in-person exams.

The first and last name must match your TEAS registration. ATI does not accept a phone image, photocopy, printed image, school ID, or work ID.

ATI’s approved examples include:

  • U.S. driver’s licence
  • U.S. state or non-driver photo ID
  • Tribal card
  • U.S. passport or passport card
  • U.S. military ID
  • U.S. permanent resident card
  • U.S. visa
  • Foreign government-issued passport

Review ATI’s current approved-ID list before the appointment, especially when using an uncommon document.

A temporary licence may not meet the requirements. Bring the exact document listed in your registration preparation materials.

Request accommodations before registering

Accommodation procedures depend on where you test.

For TEAS at ATI, ATI asks candidates to submit the request and supporting documentation at least 30 days before testing or signing up for a test date. ATI notes that some requests may take longer to process. Institution and PSI procedures differ, so contact the relevant testing provider before selecting the appointment.

Do not book a standard appointment and assume the testing center can add an accommodation on exam day.

Confirm:

  • Where to submit documentation
  • Required forms
  • Processing time
  • Whether you should wait for approval before paying
  • How the approved accommodation will appear on the appointment

What should you bring to an in-person TEAS exam?

Follow the instructions in your confirmation email first. Testing centers can add local requirements.

The core items are:

  • Approved physical government-issued photo ID
  • ATI username and password if the exam is delivered online
  • Registration confirmation
  • Any accommodation approval documents requested by the center

ATI advises in-person candidates to arrive at least 15 to 20 minutes before the scheduled start. Late arrivals may not be admitted. Plan for up to four hours at the testing site.

What not to bring into the testing room

ATI’s in-person guidance excludes items such as:

  • Mobile phones
  • Smartwatches
  • Personal calculators
  • Bags and backpacks
  • Notes and study material
  • Food and drinks, unless medically approved
  • Hats, sunglasses, and some additional apparel, subject to religious and accommodation exceptions

The testing center may provide a locker or another storage process. Confirm that before arriving with valuables.

Calculator and scratch paper

A four-function calculator is provided. In a computer-based exam, it is built into the test. For paper-and-pencil testing, the proctor supplies the calculator.

The proctor also provides scratch paper for an in-person exam. You must return all of it at the end, and you cannot use it before the exam or during the break.

What do you need for an at-home TEAS exam?

Remote testing requires more preparation than opening the exam link.

ATI’s current remote requirements include:

  • A PC or Mac
  • A supported version of Google Chrome
  • JavaScript and cookies enabled
  • Pop-up blocking disabled
  • The required Proctorio browser extension
  • A microphone
  • A webcam
  • A stable internet connection
  • A quiet, well-lit room
  • A clear desk and testing area
  • An approved physical photo ID

ATI’s published system page lists Windows 10 or later for PCs, Mac OS X 10.11 or later for Macs, and a minimum screen resolution of 1024 × 600. It states that a phone or tablet cannot be used for the Proctorio setup described on that page. Check the current system-requirements page again before paying, because technical requirements can change.

Complete the dry run

The dry run checks whether the browser, camera, microphone, permissions, and proctoring software work on your device.

Complete it before exam day, preferably with the same computer, browser profile, internet connection, and testing room you plan to use for the real exam. ATI repeatedly directs remote candidates to complete the dry run before testing.

A successful dry run is more useful than discovering a blocked camera permission during check-in.

Prepare the room

You must test alone in a quiet, well-lit room.

Expect a desk scan or room scan before the exam. Remove notes, books, additional screens, electronics, and personal items from view and reach. Keep the camera on and remain visible. During the optional break, remote candidates may be required to leave the camera running with the testing area in view.

Tell other people in the home not to enter the room.

Scratch paper for remote testing

ATI allows one blank 8½ × 11-inch sheet of paper for an at-home exam. A small tabletop dry-erase whiteboard may be used instead.

The paper or whiteboard must be blank at the beginning. ATI says the paper should be destroyed after the remote exam.

Headphones

Headphones are not allowed unless they are part of an approved accommodation.

What happens on ATI TEAS test day?

The details vary by format, but the exam-day sequence is generally predictable.

Check in early

For TEAS at ATI, begin logging in at least 30 minutes before the appointment. The proctor must approve you before the exam starts.

For an in-person appointment, follow the arrival time in the confirmation. ATI’s institutional guidance recommends arriving roughly 15 to 20 minutes early.

Present identification

The proctor checks your physical government-issued photo ID and compares it with your registration.

A name mismatch, expired document, digital copy, or unapproved ID may prevent you from testing and may lead to loss of the exam fee.

Complete security checks

In person, staff may inspect permitted items and direct you to a seat.

At home, expect camera, microphone, browser, workspace, and room checks. The proctor may ask you to move the camera to show the desk and surrounding area.

Start the assessment

The TEAS has four separately timed sections:

  1. Reading
  2. Mathematics
  3. Science
  4. English and Language Usage

The full exam delivers 170 questions with 209 minutes of allocated testing time.

You may move among questions while the current section is open. Once you submit a section and continue, you cannot return to it.

Take the optional break after Mathematics

ATI allows an optional 10-minute break after the Mathematics section for both in-person and at-home testing. The Science timer does not begin until you continue into Science.

Do not access notes, your phone, or other personal items during the break.

Submit the exam and check the result process

Score access depends on the delivery method and institution settings.

For an exam taken at an institution, the included transcript is generally sent automatically to that institution. For TEAS at ATI and PSI, the student is responsible for sending the transcript to the chosen school.

What should you do if there is a technical problem?

For an in-person exam, raise your hand and notify the proctor immediately. ATI advises candidates to report test challenges or testing-room complaints before leaving the site.

For a remote exam:

  1. Stay in the testing area unless the proctor instructs you otherwise.
  2. Use the approved proctor or ATI support channel.
  3. Record the time and the error message when possible.
  4. Follow the proctor’s instructions rather than repeatedly refreshing or closing software.
  5. Keep any support case number or written confirmation.

Do not wait until after the exam to report an issue that was visible during testing.

Can you reschedule the ATI TEAS?

It depends on how you registered.

For eligible ATI registrations, the current rescheduling policy requires the change at least 48 hours before the exam. The rescheduled date must be within 30 days of the original date, remain at the same location, and have availability. ATI currently charges $15 for each reschedule.

PSI also requires changes at least 48 hours before the appointment. A voicemail or email alone may not count as a cancellation; ATI directs PSI candidates to use the account management link or contact PSI Candidate Services.

Institution policies can be stricter. Check the school’s rules before buying.

Common TEAS registration mistakes

Registering before checking the school policy

This is the costliest mistake.

A remote score may be valid according to ATI but unacceptable to the school. The exam can still count as an attempt.

Choosing the wrong proctor type

“Online” does not identify who proctors the test.

ATI, an institution, and PSI are separate routes. Check the complete registration label.

Missing the time-zone conversion

TEAS at ATI times are scheduled in Central Time.

Convert the appointment to your own time zone before paying, then verify it again in the confirmation.

Using a registration name that doesn’t match the ID

Even a familiar shortened name can create a problem if it differs from the legal first name on the document.

Use the exact first and last name shown on the approved ID.

Waiting too long to request accommodations

ATI asks TEAS at ATI candidates to allow at least 30 days. Institution and PSI procedures can have their own lead times.

Skipping the remote dry run

A working webcam in one application does not prove the proctoring extension has permission to use it.

Complete the actual ATI dry run.

Bringing an unapproved calculator

Personal calculators are not allowed. ATI provides the calculator.

Arriving at the exact start time

Check-in takes time.

Arrive or log in early enough to complete ID and security checks.

Sending the transcript to the wrong institution

Verify the school name before using the included transcript or buying an additional credit.

Some institutions have similar names or multiple campuses.

How to practise the test-day flow

Content study answers one question: do you know the material?

Test-day practice answers another: can you use that knowledge while the timer runs, the section order is fixed, and you cannot reopen a submitted section?

Begin with a free mixed test

A mixed test is a good first check because it covers all four TEAS subjects without requiring a full 170-question session.

Pharmacy Freak’s free mixed tests include:

  • 50 questions
  • A 61-minute timer
  • Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English
  • Several TEAS-style response formats
  • Instant results
  • Explanations for each question
  • Section-wise performance
  • Downloadable PDF review
  • No login requirement

Start with TEAS Practice Test 1 or browse all options through the TEAS practice-test hub.

Compared with a basic quiz that returns only a percentage, the Pharmacy Freak mixed tests give you enough detail to separate a content weakness from a pacing problem. That makes the result more useful for planning the next study session.

Use subject-wise practice when one section is weak

A mixed result may show that Science or Math needs more work while the other sections are stable.

Pharmacy Freak’s free subject tests contain 30 timed questions with explanations, topic-wise analysis, instant results, and PDF review. No login is required.

Use the relevant set:

Rehearse the full exam close to test day

Once your content review is mostly complete, use a full-length simulation to practise the entire sequence.

Pharmacy Freak’s full-length ATI TEAS 7 package includes 10 complete 170-question tests for $9. Each exam uses four section-specific timers and includes 150 scored and 20 unidentified unscored questions. The test engine provides automatic saving, Mark for Review, a question navigator, a Math calculator, the optional break after Mathematics, locked submitted sections, emailed results, and downloadable PDF reports.

These features make the full-length tests more useful than short score-only practice exams when the goal is to rehearse timing, endurance, and section submission.

The result is still a Pharmacy Freak practice percentage. It is not an official ATI equated score.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I register for the ATI TEAS?

Registration depends on the testing route required by your school. ATI supports remote TEAS at ATI, remote institution-proctored testing, in-person institutional testing, and PSI testing. Begin with the school’s policy, then register through the route it accepts.

Should I register through ATI or my school?

Follow the school’s instructions. Some institutions use ATI’s registration system but require you to select their specific exam. Others manage parts of registration directly. Contact the school when the admission page does not clearly name the testing route.

Can I take the ATI TEAS online from home?

Yes. ATI offers remote testing proctored by ATI, and institutions may also offer remote-proctored exams. Confirm that the receiving school accepts an at-home result before registering.

What identification do I need for the TEAS?

You need an original, physical, non-expired government-issued photo ID. The first and last name must match the registration. Digital copies, phone photos, photocopies, school IDs, and work IDs are not accepted.

Can I bring a calculator?

No. ATI provides a four-function calculator. Computer-based tests use a built-in calculator, while the proctor supplies one for applicable paper-and-pencil exams.

Can I use scratch paper?

Yes. In-person proctors provide scratch paper. At-home candidates may use one blank 8½ × 11-inch sheet or a small tabletop whiteboard, subject to ATI’s current rules.

Can I reschedule the ATI TEAS?

Eligible ATI exams can currently be rescheduled for a $15 fee when the request is completed at least 48 hours before the appointment. The new date must be within 30 days, at the same location, and subject to availability. Institution and PSI policies may differ.

What happens if my internet disconnects during a remote exam?

Follow the proctor’s instructions and use the official support channel shown in your quick-start or confirmation information. Record the time and error, and do not leave the testing area unless instructed. Completing the dry run and using a stable connection reduces the risk of preventable problems.

How early should I arrive or log in?

ATI directs TEAS at ATI candidates to begin logging in at least 30 minutes early. For in-person institutional exams, ATI recommends arriving around 15 to 20 minutes before the scheduled start. Follow the confirmation email when it gives a different arrival time.

Is there a break during the ATI TEAS?

Yes. There is an optional 10-minute break after Mathematics for both remote and in-person exams. The Science timer does not begin until you continue. Do not access personal items during the break.

How much does the ATI TEAS cost?

ATI currently lists TEAS at ATI and TEAS at PSI at $120. Institution and testing-center prices vary because local fees may be included.

When will I receive my TEAS score?

Availability depends on the test format and institution settings. Computer-based results may appear shortly after testing, sometimes first as preliminary. The receiving school may control when an institution-administered result becomes visible.

Are Pharmacy Freak practice tests official ATI exams?

No. Pharmacy Freak creates independent practice material based on the published TEAS structure. Its tests and practice percentages are not official ATI exams or official ATI equated scores.

Final registration check

Before paying, you should be able to answer these questions:

  • Which school will receive the score?
  • Which testing route does it accept?
  • Does it accept remote testing?
  • Does your registration name match your physical ID?
  • Is the appointment time shown in your time zone?
  • Do you meet the technical requirements?
  • Have accommodations been approved?
  • Where will the included transcript go?
  • What is the rescheduling deadline?
  • Will the result arrive before the application deadline?

If one answer is unclear, resolve it before purchasing the exam.
