What is the BCGP? The BCGP credential validates advanced expertise in geriatric pharmacotherapy, focusing on the complex needs of older adults, including chronic disease management, polypharmacy reduction, deprescribing, and transitions of care.

2. Eligibility Requirements

To sit for the exam, you must have a current, unrestricted pharmacist license and meet ONE of the following pathways:

Pathway A (Experience)

  • PharmD or BPharm Degree
  • 2 Years of post-licensure practice experience.
  • At least 30% of time must be spent in geriatric activities (Deprescribing, LTC, Med Reviews).

Pathway B (Residency)

  • PharmD Degree
  • Completion of PGY-1 or PGY-2 Residency with at least 50% geriatric focus.
