Exam Blueprint Overview

  • Clinical Judgment (80 percent): Cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, hematology, GI, renal, integumentary, neurology, psychosocial and multisystem shock and sepsis.
  • Cardiovascular: ACS, heart failure, cardiogenic shock, dysrhythmias, hemodynamics, tamponade and post-cardiac surgery complications.
  • Respiratory: Ventilator management, ARDS, acute respiratory failure, pulmonary embolus, chest tubes and pleural emergencies.
  • Endocrine, Heme, GI, Renal, Integumentary: DKA, HHS, thyroid and adrenal crisis, GI bleed, pancreatitis, AKI, CRRT, electrolyte crises and burns.
  • Neurology: Stroke, traumatic brain injury, seizures, ICP and delirium screening.
  • Multisystem (Shock and Sepsis): SIRS, sepsis, MODS, trauma, systemic burns, hypothermia and overdose.
  • Professional Caring and Ethical Practice (20 percent): Advocacy, ethics, communication, collaboration, leadership and clinical inquiry in the ICU.
