Retake Policy

If you do not pass the PTCE on your first attempt, don't panic. You can retake the exam, but strict rules apply:

  • Waiting Period: You must wait 60 days from your last attempt before you can apply again.
  • Attempts Limit: You are allowed a maximum of 4 attempts.
  • Fees: You must pay the $129 exam fee for every attempt.
  • After 4 Failures: If you fail 4 times, you must petition the PTCB for permission to take it again and provide evidence of remediation/study.
