Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST) in Mohali, Punjab, an autonomous institution under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, operates within the framework of the NANO MISSION initiated by DST to bolster research and development in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in India. INST commenced its operations on 3rd January 2013, coinciding with the appointment of its inaugural Director.
Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates for the engagement of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a research project funded by the ‘SERB Core Research Grant (CRG) Scheme’ of the Government of India at the Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali.
Research Project Title: Insight study into photo-redox catalysis for simultaneous CO2 reduction and biomass oxidation: Boosting sustainable economy

Essential Qualification
- Post Graduate degree in Chemistry or
- Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in a Professional Course selected through any of the following processes:
- Scholars selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
- Selection process via National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.
Desirable Experience: Research experience in the synthesis of nanomaterials and catalysis is preferred.
Age Limit: Not exceeding 28 years as of 18.04.2024, relaxable for certain reserved categories as per Government of India rules.
Fellowship: Rs. 31,000/- (pm) + House Rent Allowance (HRA) as applicable
Duration: Initially for one year, extendable based on candidate performance and fund availability.
Mode of Interview: Hybrid mode (Online/offline)
General Terms and Conditions
- The position is purely temporary and contractual, renewable annually subject to satisfactory performance, for a maximum of three years or till project completion, whichever is earlier. Candidates selected for this position can also apply for the regular PhD program at INST provided they meet eligibility criteria.
- No TA/DA will be provided for interview attendance.
- Original documents along with self-attested photocopies must be presented during the interview.
